Do I need a subscription to use Held?+
The proposed Free plan includes basic editing, signatures, annotations, redaction, and page organization. Advanced precision tools would be available with a one-time Day Pass or a Pro subscription. Checkout is not connected in this preview.
Does the Day Pass renew automatically?+
No. The proposed $5 Day Pass is a single payment for 24 hours of advanced-tool access, starting when payment is confirmed. It would not create a recurring subscription.
What happens when paid access ends?+
Under the proposed plans, advanced tools become locked again while Free tools remain available. PDFs already exported stay on your device. Canceling Pro would stop future renewals, with access continuing through the paid period.
Does paying mean uploading my contract?+
No. The proposed billing service would handle payment and license information separately from PDF processing. Your PDF content would remain in your browser. Checkout is not yet connected.
Does my PDF ever leave my device?+
Held is designed to render, edit, and generate PDFs in your browser. Document processing happens on your device, without uploading your contract to a server.
Can I edit a scanned contract?+
PDFs with a selectable text layer, including scans that already have OCR text, support text editing and texture matching. Image-only scans currently support viewing, signatures, and markup. Held does not yet include OCR or an add-text tool.
Will replacement text match the original font?+
Held detects the original text’s font characteristics and matches suitable fonts. You can also supply a TTF or OTF font. Exact matches depend on the font and characters available.
Do I need an account?+
No. Held’s local editing workflow is designed to work without creating an account.
Where can I edit my own PDF?+
The interactive sample demonstrates the workflow without a file. Choose Open editor to work with your own PDF. The current editor is free to use; paid access is not yet enabled.
What happens when I redact something?+
Held’s described redaction workflow rasterizes covered content on export so it cannot be selected or extracted. Rasterization can change affected content from vector text to pixels. Review the exported copy before sharing it.
